On December 10, 2025, the European Commission released a comprehensive package of legislative proposals aimed at simplifying environmental legislation to enhance the competitiveness of European businesses. The proposals, referred to as the “eighth omnibus package,” seek to reduce administrative burdens in areas such as industrial emissions, the circular economy, and environmental assessments, without undermining the EU’s core environmental objectives. These legislative proposals will now be negotiated by the European Parliament and the Council.
