China Publishes a Mandatory Standard on the Packaging of Edible Agricultural Products
China conducts stringent supervision on the excessive packaging of edible agricultural products. On September 8, 2023, China published a new standard in this field, set to be effective starting from April 1, 2024. To minimize unnecessary waste, agricultural products produced or imported before the implementation date can still be sold until the end of their shelf life.

India Introduces EPR Regulations for Used Oils
On September 18, 2023, India's Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) issued the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations for used oil in the Gazette of India. The regulations are also called the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Second Amendment Rules, 2023. It shall come into force from April 1, 2024.

EU Adds PFHxS to Prohibited List under POPs Regulation
On August 8, 2023, EU issued Regulation (EU) 2023/1068 to list perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), its salts, and PFHxS-related compounds in Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2019/1021, also known as the Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) Regulation. The regulation will come into effect 20 days after its publication.
