China Releases Industrial Products Green Design Guidelines (2026)
On 17 April 2026, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) General Office, together with the General Offices of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) and State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), officially released the Industrial Products Green Design Guidelines (2026). The Guidelines set out overarching principles and key focus areas for green (ecological) design across the full life cycle of industrial products, aiming to reduce resource consumption and environmental impacts while safeguarding product performance, quality, and safety.

On February 12, 2026, Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment released a draft amendment to the Regulations for Restricting the Import of Mercury-Containing Products, proposing expanded import bans and revised exemption conditions in line with the Minamata Convention on Mercury. Stakeholders may submit comments through April 14, 2026.

Singapore NEA Provides up to SDG 2,500 Transition Grant for Beverage Container Return Scheme Producers
On January 20, 2026, Singapore’s National Environment Agency (NEA) issued a circular regarding the implementation of the Beverage Container Return Scheme (BCRS) Producer Transition Grant. To support industry stakeholders in adapting to new recycling mandates, the NEA introduced a grant providing up to SGD 2,500 per registered producer. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial and logistical impacts of the transition, particularly for importers and smaller producers, with the grant validity extending until September 30, 2027.
