Philippines Sets Heavy Fines for Violations of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Act
In April of 2026, the Pollution Adjudication Board (PAB) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the Philippines approved two key resolutions establishing strict guidelines and substantial fines for businesses failing to comply with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Act of 2022 (RA 11898). PAB Resolutions No. 01 and No. 02, Series of 2025, detail the penalties for non-registration and other violations related to EPR programs.

Indonesia Updates Regulation on Environmental Management and Monitoring Plans
On April 3, 2026, the Indonesian Ministry of Industry officially implemented MoI Regulation No. 2 of 2026 concerning the Procedures for the Preparation and Approval of Detailed Environment Management Plans and Environment Monitoring Plans for Business and/or Activity Plans to be Located in Industrial Zones, replacing the previous MoI Regulation No. 1 of 2020. This updated regulation aligns the environmental compliance process with Indonesia’s integrated risk-based business licensing system (OSS) to streamline procedures while ensuring environmental sustainability.

China Releases Industrial Products Green Design Guidelines (2026)
On 17 April 2026, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) General Office, together with the General Offices of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Ministry of Education (MOE), Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) and State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), officially released the Industrial Products Green Design Guidelines (2026). The Guidelines set out overarching principles and key focus areas for green (ecological) design across the full life cycle of industrial products, aiming to reduce resource consumption and environmental impacts while safeguarding product performance, quality, and safety.
