Brazil's Chamber of Deputies Committee on Industry, Commerce and Services (CICS) adopted a substitute text to Bill No. 1,071/2025 and its attached bills on 23 June 2026, proposing amendments to Brazil's existing plastic packaging and reverse logistics framework. The PFAS-related provision would authorize the federal government to establish risk management and control measures for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) present in plastic packaging, based on applicable law and substance-specific risk assessments.
Brazil’s deputies committee adopted a substitute bill that would let the federal government implement substance-specific PFAS controls for plastic packaging.
