Philippines Proposes Mandatory Recycling Labels on Packaging

by Jerry Wang Jul 02, 2026
The Philippine House introduced a bill that would require all consumer product packaging to carry a standardized recycling label. The proposed label would need to disclose the packaging material, recyclability status, disposal instructions, and any recycled content, along with specific size and placement rules.

On May 18, 2026, a bill was introduced to the Philippine House of Representatives to create a mandatory recycling labeling system for consumer products. The proposed legislation, House Bill No. 9281, also known as the Philippine Recycling Labeling Act of 2026, aims to standardize packaging information to improve waste segregation and support the country's recycling infrastructure. As a draft bill, it is currently under deliberation in the House committee and does not yet have an effective date.
