India Amends EPR Rules for Batteries

The amendment incorporates responsibilities for pre-consumer waste management and improves the operation and management of EPR certificate

On October 25, 2023, India's Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MOEFCC) released a notification in the Official Gazette to amend the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Regulations for batteries. The amendment are called Battery Waste Management (Amendment) Rules, 2023. It shall come into force on the date of publication.
